January 14th 2012. Tens of people, including the young ones from Sai Center and Ashram Gandhi Puri filled a 15 x 15 meter room of a building in Jalan Pura Merta Sari, Kuta. The building belongs to Anand Ashram Bali which was celebrating its 21st anniversary. All attending were fully enjoying that moment of celebration.
It was preceded with open house program followed by sharing session. Some shared experiences of their involvement with Anand Ashram. A young guy from Ashram Gandhi Puri shared his knowledge and expertise giving a “short course” on basic movement of Indian dance. Few others spoke of their feelings by reciting poems. So relaxing was the atmosphere that made all participants very excited and able to express themselves.
The performance of One Earth School students enlivened the special moment to even more rejoicing. Their innocence and funny expressions when performing the dance they haven’t fully mastered or remembered made participants laugh. A kid abruptly stopped dancing because she forgot the movement of the dance—everyone couldn’t help laughing on seeing her innocent yet childish looking face.
Cutting the tumpeng—ceremonial dish of yellow rice served in cone shape—and birthday cake climaxed the anniversary celebration. Everyone enjoyed dinner together after all.
