On 21 Sept 2009 at Anand Krishna Centre, Jl. Pura Mertasari 27, Sunset Road Area, Kuta-Bali, Anand Ashram Foundation (affiliated with UN), held an International Day of Peace with theme of Celebrating Peace Toward Interfaith Harmony.
World renown on Peace, Anand Krishna, quoted Lao Tze, “If there is right in the Soul, there will be beauty in the person. If there is beauty in the person, there will be harmony in the home. If there is harmony in the home, there will be order in the nation. If there is order in the nation, there will be peace in the world.”
To be a peacemaker, there are 4S in our hearts that must be cultivated:
1. Sensitivity.
Are we sensitive enough to feel others’ sufferings? Feeling the sufferings doesn’t mean sin laundering by compensating guilty feeling with huge amount of donation. The more people corrupt the more they want to donate. This is not sensitivity. This is sin laundering. Sensitivity is when we can feel emphatic toward other people’s sufferings, people we don’t know.
2. Sincerity.
We have to be sincere on what we want. When we elect ourselves, do we want the position or facilities accompanied with the position?
3. Solution.
Here, we have to go back to Lao Tze’s that solution is not merely a theory but must be applicable.
4. Skill.
A peacemaker must have the ability and skills to find solutions for the conflicts and the root of problems. They have to apply the proven solutions in real life.
A peacemaker who has 4S in their heart will have their works on peaceful solutions successful. All nations in the world are on their way to a more united world, with internet and information readily and unlimitedly available to everyone. Yet, there must be a glue to connects us all together. And the glue is Peace, Love, and Harmony.
