Joglosemar`s Anand Krishna Center and One Earth School Impresses Prof. Tri

Yogyakarta – It might never dawn on Dr. Wayan Suriastini and her colleagues that Professor Tri Budi W. Rahardjo would have come  visiting their Joglosemar’s Anand Krishna Center (AKC) and One Earth School (OES). But, truly in bright morning of January  27 2012, the Gerontology Professor of noted Universitas Indonesia and Director of Center for Aging Studies (CAS) was unexpectedly there at the Center and School they are devoted to. Accompanying Prof. Tri was dr.  Lili—a SEAMEO doctoral candidate. The ladies made a sudden visit to the Center/School as it is just a walking distance from the house they were staying.

They arrived at 05.55 AM and were received by Dr. Suriastini. To Prof. Tri, whom she met in a seminar on Aging in Singapore, August 2011, the Director of One Earth Integral Education Foundation explained about the activities of AKC and OES of Joglosemar. She also disclosed Center’s community service activities through PPSTK or Mobile Center for Stress and Trauma Relief Program. Created by Anand Krishna PPSTK Self Empowerment has been applied to help victims of Merapi eruption recuperate from stress and trauma—its result on aged persons is to be presented by Dr. Suriastini at the First World Congress on Healthy Aging which will take place in Malaysia on March 2012 where Prof. Tri too will attend.

Dr. Suriastini also explained about Center’s planning to render services to aged people. One of them is training program called Aged Friendly Community Education for communities around Center and One Earth School. Creator of the program is Anand Krishna. The guest was clearly astonished and appreciative towards the activities of AKC and OES as well as the brain of all these—Anand Krishna. She got some books of Anand Krishna as presents from her host.

In this informal yet short visit Prof. Tri had the opportunity to witness morning routines at OES and AKC. She also took snapshots of certain spots at Center and School that interested her. “If I come to Jogja again, I’ll visit this place every morning. I will tell my sister”, she said before parting.

The two lady scholars left AKC and OES at 6.55 AM. Thank you for your visit, Ladies.
