“Yoga & Meditation: Cultural Heritage of Complementary Therapy

for Holistic Health”

 

Jakarta – On Anand Ashram 30th Foundation Day, the Anand Ashram Foundation (affiliated with the United Nations) is collaborating with the Cultural Institute of Trisakti University to hold a National Symposium on “Yoga & Meditation: Cultural Heritage of Complementary Therapy for Holistic Health”. This symposium is the first ever national scale symposium in Indonesia that discusses yoga and meditation from a medical, as well as cultural perspective.

The symposium aims to further discuss how yoga and meditation within the Nusantara cultural is a complementary therapy for holistic health, while also disseminating this philosophy of life to the broader public.

This symposium is also being held to provide accurate information to the public on how health can actually be sustained by each and every individual by shifting lifestyles in accordance with the teachings from the noble culture of Nusantara.

 

 

The National Symposium on “Yoga & Meditation: Cultural Heritage of Complementary Therapy for Holistic Health” was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2020 from 08.30 – 12:00 WIB at Auditorium Building D Trisakti University, Jl. Kyai Tapa No.1, Tomang, West Jakarta. The speakers at the national symposium consist of academics, yoga-meditation experts and practitioners: dr. Danny Wiradharma, SH., MS. (Medical Doctor, Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, Trisakti University), Ir. Agus Guntoro, M.Sc., Ph.D (Director of the Cultural Institute of Trisakti University), Maa Archana (Ayurvedic/Yogic Lifestyle Counselor), and Anand Krishna (Spiritual Humanist, Prolific Author of more than 180 books).

The national symposium is attended by approximately 350 participants ranging from students, teachers/lecturers, well-being/wellness practitioners, etc. from Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, Bali, and Lampung. Among the attendants are Dr. dr. Ina Rosalina Dadan, Sp.A(K), M.Kes, MH.Kes. (Director of Traditional Health Services of Health Ministry of Indonesia); Colonel (K) dr. Wiweka MARS (Chief of RSAL Mintohardjo); Mr. Makrand Shukla (JNICC – Jakarta); Prof. Ir. Hj. Asri Nugrahanti, MS, PhD, IPU (Vice Rector 1 Trisakti University); dan Dr. dr. Pusparini, Sp.PK (Chief of Senate Trisakti University).

In addition to discussing yoga and meditation as cultural heritage of complimentary therapy for holistic health, there is an award ceremony of Ambassador for Global Harmony to Father Prof. Dr. Franz Magnis Suseno, SJ and the deceased H.S. Dillon for their commitment to work for and promote global harmony among people, communities, and nations. This award have been previously given to the following: Inayah Wulandri Wahid; Prof. Dr. Muhammad A.S. Hikam, APU; Dr Djohan Effendy; Prof Dr. Siti Musdah Mulia, M.A. APU; Drs. Suwandi Sandiwan Brata, M.A; Prof. Dr.H Ahmad Syafi’i Maarif; Ven. Bhikku Sanghasena; Prof. Lokesh Chandra; and R.O. Sunil Babu.
