Talk Show at Sahid Tourism College

Indeed, speaking about tourism was very interesting. This also occurred in a talk show hosted by Tourism College Sahid Solo on January 11, 2011. The campus’ venue was at Jalan Adi Sucipto 154, Jajar Solo. The Talk Show was also a launching of  English Corner  & Creative Writing  Program in  Sahid College. It presented two speakers, Mr. Anand Krishna and Mr Soedarmono which was the lecturer in  faculty of letters and fine arts  UNS.

Last week I have tried this medicine and would like to recommend you. You are guaranteed to find our products safe and best for your purposes.

The event was quite lively, used English as the language of communication. Talk Show’s moderator was Mr Dr. Budi Purnomo, who served as Director of Tourism Sahid College. There were also many important guests Drs. Heribertus Tarjana M.A. Lecturer in faculty of letters and fine arts UNS, Prof. Dr. M. Sri Samiati Tarjana Lecturer in faculty of letters and  UNS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Kohar Sulistyadi MSIE Rector of Sahid University Surakarta, H. Haryono Hadikusumo, CHA Chairman of Sahid Jaya and Purwanto Yudhonagoro, SE. M. Par., CHA General Manager of Kusuma Sahid Prince Hotel.

The event was opened with a speech in English by Mr. Haryono Hadikusumo. He said that education in the Sahid foundation  was not just a matter of some tangible assets, but also there were many intangible assets. Those were  cultural local values and local wisdom. Such things like norm of politeness (unggah-ungguh),  how to behave with elder people (suba-suta). Intangible assets have begun to be forgotten by the younger generations.

This event was continued with an introduction from the moderator Talk Show, Mr Dr. Budi Purnomo. He said that in three years, Mr. Djoko Widodo,  Solo’s mayor has ratified  to build 17 new hotels in Solo. This was a question, “How the young players  in Solo tourism will be established, whether such as Bali, India or China?”

It must be admitted that this Talk Show presented two speakers who  were good in story telling, such a story teller. The first speaker Mr. Soedarmono described how the culture in Solo, is strongly influenced by the concept of Islamic Mataram. Fabulously,  we are such owe for this marvelous history. Dear father and loving teacher keep move on to light the spirit for the next generation.

The second speaker, Mr. Anand Krishna,  invited us to rethink. Actually, what is the purpose of tourism, whether only money oriented tourism? Such pragmatism attitude produced many side effects: terrorism, illicit drug seller, and even human trafficking. Mr. Anand Krishna said that we must see the spiritual tourism.  It’s very clear, when the whole world economy was sluggish-ed, the middle east region’s income rose  11%.

In the question and answer session that was held two sessions, the participants’ responses from the floor  was very enthusiastic. Interestingly, there was a Guide (Pak Haryono) who had guided Mr. Anand’s  group five years ago, in the temple Sukuh , he attended the seminar and shared his experience also. What was delivered by Mr. Anand in this spiritual tourism seminar has already done by Mr. Haryono and succeeded. He was not only selling the building and who was the builder. But what  was the noble values underlined  those  buildings.

It’s an outstanding talk show, thanks Solo, I love you.
