Denpasar (ANTARA News) – Dozens of teenagers in Ubud, Bali, Sunday, joined workshops on yoga and youth empowerment in order to prevent the danger of HIV/ AIDS and drugs.
The activities were organized by Anand Ashram, Ubud, titled ” Youth Challenges & Empowerment”. The participants were given an introduction about yoga as well as trained the principle of yoga.
In addition the participants were also invited to do some games and sing along in a cheerful tune.
“I feel more relaxed than ever, happy to be part of these activities,” said Gusti Ayu Indra Kasih, one of the yoga participants.
She admitted initially she was tired, but after doing the yoga she feels more fresh. Yoga helps her body release the pain. “My body feels pain. However, by continuing the exercise it can strengthen my body and mind,” she said.
The organizer of the workshop Dr Wayan Sayoga said, “the purpose of these activities are to improve the health of young generation holistically, become smart and responsible and aware of their potential early. Also to foster self-confidence and have the ability to differentiate the right thing from the wrong one for themselves”.
He said the young man has an incredible energy. And if it is not dispensed properly will cause negative effects, such as fight, go to the cafe, drink, sex, and so forth.
“This event is also to prevent the increasing number of people with HIV / AIDS due to the bad company. The prevalence of HIV/AIDS in Bali is currently high. So the workshop is a preventive mechanism to avoid greater danger,” he said.
Based on data from the Komisi Penanggulangan AIDS Nasional (KPAN), number of Indonesian people affected by HIV / AIDS in 2020 is estimated to reach 1.9 million. Every hour, a young boy in Indonesia is infected by HIV.
Another accurate data showed that Indonesia is the third most prevalent of HIV in the world. While the number of smokers in this country is the first in the world. A cigarette contains 4000 chemicals of which 200 are toxic to the body and can cause cancer.
